The State of the Family Office
with Thomas Livergood
The Family Wealth Alliance

As the number of wealthy families in America and around the world continues to grow, so does the demand for the services of a multifamily office. Wealthy families frequently look to professional advisors for help in many areas, from managing financial resources to preparing the next generation to lead successful lives. The need for advice of private families, however, goes well beyond simple money management and is often beyond the scope of a traditional wealth advisor. As a result, more families are turning to multifamily offices—a kind of advisory
firm that provides a broad array of comprehensive and integrated services to multigenerational clients.

Thomas LivergoodThomas Livergood is CEO of The Family Wealth Alliance, an independent consultancy for families based in Oak Brook, Ill.  His firm collaborated on the inaugural "Multifamily Office Study & Listing" in 2004 and released the first-ever published "Multifamily Office Standards" in 2005.

The Family Wealth Alliance educates families and helps them find best-in-class multifamily offices and other high-end integrated wealth-management firms. Livergood speaks, writes and consults on various subjects of interest to families and the firms that serve them, and has more than 26 years' experience in the wealth-management industry. He earned a bachelor's degree in liberal arts and an MBA at Bradley University, and is a certified financial planner.
